Care After Combat
This charity, headed up by Jim Davidson and Simon Weston, works to reduce the number of re-offending veterans released from prison. These veterans have come across hard times and most suffer with PTSD. It is proven that fishing has a therapeutic effect on PTSD so we have donated 10 carp kits to the charity with the aim to have complete sets for veterans to experience fishing.
Currently the Tackle Box has supplied 30 x CF-X 12ft 3.25lb carp rods, 10 x CF-X Spod/Marker rods, 10 x Long Top Bivvies, 10 x CF-X Landing Nets and 10 x 3/5 rod sleeves. Korda legend Danny Fairbrass has also donated an enormous amount of end tackle, but ‘Care After Combat’ now need YOUR HELP to complete the sets. Please be generous and donate or participate in a Care After Combat fishing weekend or charity event. Every little helps.
Lucy's Bowl for Guide Dogs
Organised by Keith & Linda Sykes in memory of their beloved Labrador Lucy, these fishing events are used to raise money to fund guide dogs. Their tireless efforts continues to pay for dog after dog, which are all named Lucy!
We always donate a selection of our own brand tackle such as the CF-X range and the Darent Valley to the raffle.
DDAPS - Kids Fish for FREE at Horton Kirby Lakes
This is an annual event organised by our local fishing club Dartford & District Angling Presentation Society (DDAPS). It attracts over 400 youngsters all of which receive and walk away with a 4 metre whip, a small tackle box and a bait box of maggots FREE of charge.
The organisers do all the hard work and an amazing job. We are proud to be associated with this event and donate the equipment and bait to encourage youngsters to engage in an outdoor pursuit which is proven to be a massive benefit to mental health, and to lure them away from their iPads, out of the virtual world and into the real world of nature.
The Tackle Box is the largest angling trade donor to the Angling Trust.
We have not only supported the Angling Trust since it’s conception, but also its predecessor, the SACG (Specialist Angling Consultancy Group) going back over 25 years. The SACG intervened when the government were going to action a 2 rod limit and negotiated a 4 rod limit.
It is important to support such organisations as they keep track on how new laws affect the enjoyment of all our angling, deliver educational programmes, fight pollution, over abstraction and many more issues that can have adverse effects on angling, they are our unsung protectors.
So please join today!
